Dragon Ball fans are getting a big treat at the beginning of next year. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will launch in January and will be a large scale RPG that follows the entire Z saga. While the game will seemingly follow the events of the beloved manga pretty closely by and large, it seems there is some room for some alternate stories here, as you can revive major villains that died in the storyline.

It was reported earlier that you could gather the dragon balls to revive fallen foes. Now, we get an idea of what that entails. Apparently, you can go against the story and revive the likes of Frieza and Cell once you collect the dragon balls, each having their own short alternate story side quest that will net you a lot of EXP and Soul Emblems. Presumably, this won’t have any impact on the actual narrative, but it’ll be interesting to see if they do anything significant with it.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on January 17th 2020.
