Last week we got word that Dragon Quest XI S, the enhanced re-release of the latest mainline installment in the legendary Japanese RPG series, had gone gold (or, well, mostly anyway). The game features a lot of new content that wasn’t available in the original PS4 and PC releases, and if you thought we’d seen it all, well, you’d be wrong. A casual update on the game’s Japanese site reveals even more than what we knew before, with party characters getting more time to shine.
In the update on the official website, it was revealed that each party member would be getting a new story that wasn’t featured in the original release. Not only that, but it seems it’ll get really personal as you’ll be able to control those characters in the new stories. Some will be totally solo, while others will include new temporary party members. It’s not entirely clear if these will be woven into the main narrative or are more side content, but either way, you’ll be getting to know your party members better than ever (thanks to Gematsu for translations).
Dragon Quest XI S will release on September 27th exclusively for the Switch.
