A new game in the Dragon Quest Monsters series was announced during a recent Nintendo Direct. Titled Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, the game is slated for release on December 1 on the Nintendo Switch. Check out the announcement trailer below.

The trailer showed off some of the monster-collecting the Dragon Quest Monsters series is known for. Primarily, however, the trailer was largely focused on showcasing story elements, while also giving us a look at the ability to fuse different monsters together.

The game follows Psaro and his companion Rose travelling through the demon realm of Nadiria. Some of the gameplay shown off in the trailer included the turn-based combat system of the game where you manage a group of monstrous allies in battle.

The Dragon Quest Monsters titles have traditionally been single-player focused games inspired by the monster-collecting gameplay made famous by Pokemon. The line of games has been quiet since the last major release all the way back in 2016, dubbed Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will be available to wishlist on the Nintendo eShop soon.
