Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a unique lexicon to describe common tropes that we have all heard of in games of this genre. One of these terms is Portcrystals, which are basically just teleportation portals to fast travel between major locations. There are two types: fixed Portcrystals, and Implements which can be placed by you anywhere you want. This Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide lists all Portcrystals locations, as well as recommended sites for your own Portcrystals.
Fixed Portcrystal Locations
- Vernworth Portcrystal
This Portcrystal is unlocked in the pursuit of the story quest Seat of the Sovran, and is located near the Grand Riftstone of Vermund’s building.
- Harve Village Portcrystal
While on the Monster Culling story quest, you will visit Harve Village. The village is located south-west of Vernworth, but will have to head north-west out of the city and over the water first. The Harve Village Portcrystal itself is at south-western tip of the peninsula right next to the cave you will enter on the quest.
- Seafloor Portcrystal
This Portcrystal only becomes available in the post-game Unmoored World. Prioritize this particular Portcrystal as it is nearest to your starting point, and automatically unlocks the remaining two Portcrystals.
- Arbor Portcrystal
Exclusive to the Unmoored World, the Arbor Portcrystal can be automatically unlocked by simply activating the Seafloor Portcrystal.
- Agamen Volcanic Island Portcrystal
Exclusive to the Unmoored World, the Agamen Volcanic Island Portcrystal can be automatically unlocked by simply activating the Seafloor Portcrystal.
Recommended Portcrystal Locations
With only 2 fixed Portcrystal on the main game’s map, it is highly recommended that you acquire more mobile Portcrystals that you can place by yourself.
- Bakbattahl
This area is in the general south-west of the map and since you can own a house here, it is recommended that you place a Portcrystal nearby for good measure. Since Bakbattahl is a major city, you can cover both it and much of the surrounding region as well.
- Nameless Village
This location is so far and out of the way in the far north-east corner of the map, you would be well advised to place a Portcrystal here.
- Volcanic Island Camp
One of two locations in this southern landmass that can be difficult to get to from Bakbattahl proper. Placing a Portcrystal here will cover the entire region on the normal map.
- Excavation Site
The other location in this southern region of the map, any extra Portcrystal you find can benefit you by being placed here for quick, painless travel.
- Arbor
The Elvish village is located in the far northern regions of the map. Like the previous two locations, it has no Oxcart route, and thus it would be beneficial to have a Portcrystal located here for easy access, as well as to locations to the north-east and south-west.
Get More Portcrystals
- A Trial Of Archery
Complete A Trial of Archery side quest to earn a Portcrystal as a reward. Speak to Glyndwr in Vernworth to initiate the quest.
- Feast Of Deception
Complete the main quest Feast of Deception to earn another Portcrystal as a reward.
- A Game Of Wits
Your encounter with the Sphinx will involve the quest A Game of Wits. The Riddle of Madness will earn you a Portcrystal. Simply bring along a Pawn or other NPC with whom your player character has a high Affinity.
- A Game Of Wits 2
The Riddle of Conviction from the Sphinx is practically a cheat code. The Sphinx will demand that you surrender an item that you prize, with the expectation that you will lose it permanently. While you can give it any item really, the fact is that the Sphinx will not just return the item, but also a duplicate. It is your choice whether to give it a Portcrystal for duplication, or anything else you consider rare and valuable.
- Forested Griffin’s Nest
Located between Vermund and Battahl, on the southern edge of the Misty Marshes. Head west from Vermund, and the Forested Griffin’s Nest will be north-east of Checkpoint Rest Town. The Griffin might be asleep when you initially approach, so this might present an opportunity for an enterprising Thief.
- Purchase From The Dragonforged
The Dragonforged NPC at the Bay Wayside will sell you a single Portcrystal for 20 Wrymslife Crystals, which themselves are a rare endgame currency dropped by Drakes and Dragons.
- Gifted By A Player Character
It is very unlikely, but when your Main Pawn returns from adventuring alongside another player character, it may have a Portcrystal among its collected rewards.
- Purchase As Microtransaction
Highly not recommended for the asking price, which is currently $2.99 on all stores–Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam.
Bear in mind that all portable Portcrystals can be picked up again and moved at your discretion, so don’t feel compelled to hoard them. These very same placed Portcrystals will also be fully accessible in the Unmoored World.
That’s everything about all fixed Portcrystals, portable Portcrystals, and recommended placement in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
