It's finally happening!

Dragon’s Dogma was always a game too ahead of its time- the open world action RPG was far too ambitious for the hardware that it shipped on (PS3 and Xbox 360), and it showed- the game had framerate drops to less than 20FPS in many cases, and it was also letterboxed, since the consoles could not handle rendering it at full resolution.

It’s a shame, too, because barring a few quirks, it really was a great game, one that should have gotten more exposure than it did. Thankfully, it seems like it will get another chance to shine, and this time with an audience that might appreciate its merits- Capcom has announced that Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be coming to PC early next year- in January 2016, in fact.

No other details were yet announced, but it is hoped that a lot of issues with the game will be fixed with this re-release. Dragon’s Dogma has always seemed singularly suited to the PC. PC players have wanted it for a while, so it’s good to see Capcom respond.

Now let’s keep our eyes open for the inevitable PS4 and Xbox One port.
