E3 2012: Pikmin 3 officially announced for Wii U

Posted By | On 05th, Jun. 2012

During their E3 presser, Nintendo officially announced Pikmin 3 for the Wii U, much to the delight of the audience. Pikmin 3 has been rumoured for a long time, and it’s really great to finally see this announcement. It’s been 10 years since the first Pikmin game was released on the GCN.

A lot of gameplay footage was also shown, all of it using the Wii U’s touch pad controls. The visuals looked really good, and a lot of new features were also shown off.

Captain Olimar, the protagonist of the Pikmin series, was not in the video. Nintendo said there’s a reason for that, but that reason is “a secret”. Nintendo also announced that they’re targeting the hardcore audience with Pikmin 3.

The footage is given above, take a look.

Oh, and Miyamoto had a Pikmin stuffed toy. Nice.
