E3 2012: Tomb Raider gameplay footage shown off, looks incredible; DLC will be timed-exclusive for Xbox 360

Crystal Dynamics showed off a ton of gameplay footage for their upcoming Tomb Raider during Microsoft’s E3 press conference, and it looked incredible. It looks like a much more mature, darker and grittier version of Uncharted.

The footage showed Lara using a crossbow which she apparently made to fight enemies, also picking up the weapons she could find. She also used flammable arrows to set people on fire, to use on oil or on lamps to affect more people with single arrows.

There were also a lot of set pieces, like Lara sliding down a large waterfall and destroying obstacles as she went along to protect herself, or falling from a helicopter and using a chute to land safely and a lot more. The game also has incredible destructible cove and brutal melee finishers.

Overall, the gameplay looks very slick and amazing, and it’s definitely impressed us. The full gameplay video is given above. Have a look.

Crystal Dynamics described this game as an “intense mix of survivor action, brutal combat and exploration”, and it certainly seems like it will be living up to the hype.

At the end of the showing, Crystal Dynamics also announced that all DLC for Tomb Raider, whenever it comes out, will be timed exclusives for the Xbox 360. Wow, now that’s a biggie.

Stay tuned for more info.
