EA bans user from accessing singleplayer for an offensive comment said by someone else

The moderation in EA forums are a bit tricky, as many users in the past have complained about unfair bans. Sort of like this one, but this latest ban really made me feel that a lot of people should be exposed to this. The bottomline is, you should not be banned from accessing something you purchased.

Multiplayer, well that’s fine, depending on the circumstances but the singleplayer? That is inexcusable. EA has all the right to do this, though. It’s in their T&C, but this is such an anti-consumer move, that I’m surprised why more people aren’t against this.

Let’s take the case of this guy, who was banned for an inflammatory comment said by someone else.

The best part is that the offending post wasn’t made by me, but was directed at me and has my username in it, so, voila, BAN,” he revealed.

The user also posted the chat logs between him and EA’s support, which goes like this:

While the support guy was just following the rules, my heart goes out to the guy who got banned, because this policy should not be tolerated.
