Battlefield 6

Battlefield 6 had quite the start when it was released last year. Its campaign may not have managed to impress, but its multiplayer sure did, and the game soared to enviable heights in a crowded space.

But the last few months haven’t been kind to the title, with many aspects of its updates coming under fire for numerous issues, including, but not limited to, excessive monetization, the use of generative AI, and, funnily enough, a lack of regular content. However, EA has since attempted some damage control, delaying the Season 2 update to ensure it’s done right, while providing a content roadmap for the next three months.

However, it seems that the game’s struggles have bled on to the folks who worked hard to craft the experience that once had people heaping praises on it. An ongoing “realignment” effort has reportedly left many staffers across the numerous studios working on the game laid off from their jobs. An EA spokesperson, in a statement to IGN, had the following to say.

“We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.”

Studios such as Motive Studios, Ripple Effect, Criterion, and DICE have been affected, according to sources speaking to IGN. Here’s to hoping that the minds behind a fairly solid shooter land on their feet, while Battlefield 6 manages to get out of its slump and back to being an entertaining title that comes with an extensive pedigree.
