For all of its success in first person shooters, action RPGs, online titles and much more, Electronic Arts has never really had it’s own Assassin’s Creed style video game series. That’s set to change in the coming years though – CFO Blake Jorgensen recently spoke about as much at the UBS Global Technology Conference.
“We’ve never really operated in the largest genre of gaming, and that’s the action genre. That’s the Assassin’s Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-play versus multiplayer. It’s not been an area that we’ve operated in. We recently hired Jade Raymond, who was behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise for Ubisoft and she will be building an action genre for us through a studio we’re building out in Montreal right now. So a lot of excitement around the action genre.”
Jade Raymond is currently in charge of her own studio Motive and will be working with Visceral Games and former Uncharted writer Amy Hennig on an unannounced Star Wars title. How will it turn out? Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
