Given the tremendous critical and commercial success Elden Ring has enjoyed, one would imagine that FromSoftware and Bandai Namco would want to keep the game around for a while with content additions, and it seems like that is indeed the plan. After having recently added the Colosseum, PvP modes, and more to the open world action RPG with a free update in December, it seems FromSoftware has now turned its full attention to a large-scale expansion.
That’s as per prominent insider Lance McDonald, who has a proven track record with FromSoftware-related leaks. As shared by a user on Reddit, McDonald is seen claiming in a leaked image of a Discord conversation that the developer is working on a “huge” DLC for Elden Ring. While he is unsure what new gameplay mechanics will be added with the expansion, he reiterates that it’s going to be “really big”.
An expansion for Elden Ring has been in heavy demand for several months, and FromSoftware itself has indicated that one might be part of its plans. In December, the game’s director and FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki said that the studio still has “several more things” it wants to do with the game. Leaks and datamines have also suggested that new Elden Ring content is in the works.
Elden Ring is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
