FromSoftware shocked many when it announced Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone co-op PvE spin-off of its open-world action RPG. Launching in 2025, it sees players venturing through Limveld to slay the Nightlord in a parallel universe. Though supporting up to three players, you can also play solo.
However, Limweld is constantly changing, and you’ll need to survive for three days and nights (with the Night’s Tide causing the playable space to shrink over time). You must defeat a boss each night, with the Nightlord emerging on the third. Eight characters known as Nightfarers with unique abilities and Ultimates are available at the outset.
Even if you fail a run, relics and character upgrades become available as part of the meta-progression. Of course, you can venture to more challenging parts of the map for Runes to level up at Sites of Grace and find stronger weapons. FromSoftware has promised players won’t experience “the same journey twice as enemies, rewards, and Limveld itself are ever-shifting and evolving each session.” You’ll also learn more about what exactly is going on.
Elden Ring: Nightreign is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
