Frontier Developments has confirmed that the open beta for the upcoming season for its popular MMO space sim Elite Dangerous, Beyond: Chapter One, is now available on PC. The beta is free to everyone, and gives you a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming updates coming to the game.

The beta will let you access new features such as the Galnet Audio (which should, among other things, make it easier for you to sign up for Wing Missions), and will also let you have a say in what the final update looks like by soliciting your feedback based on what you play. You will also be able to see the changes to the Crimes and Punishments system, and take part in missions with three distinctive reward packages.

All in all, it sounds like a hefty beta. The final update is due out on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 for free later this year.
