Remember Epic Games’ Fortnite? Back in 2011, the developer announced a sandbox, zombie survival game where players had to create forts, scavenging resources during the day, while fending off attacks from zombies in the night. However, ever since then, we’ve had reassurance after reassurance that Fortnite was progressing (with two closed alphas even) but no solid information.
However, it seems Fortnite will actually be out this year. That’s according to Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney (via PC Gamer) who told attendees at GDC 2017 that the long awaited tower defense title would be shipping this year. But then Epic Game itself told Polygon that a beta for the game would be out by 2018.
So which one do we believe?
At this point it seems possible that Fortnite could see a beta this year and a release in the next. We’re not holding our breath though, especially given all the statements we’ve heard already.
