Epic Games’ Fortnite Sells Over 500,000 Copies

That's despite going free to play next year.

Despite being in the Early Access state, Epic Games’ Fortnite has seen over 500,000 people purchase one of its many paid versions according to creative director Darren Sugg on Twitter. These packs allow for playing the Early Access version along with including more heroes, weapons, booster packs and whatnot.

It’s pretty interesting because Epic had already confirmed that Fortnite will be going free to play in 2018. This just goes to show that enthusiasm for the product is quite high.

Fortnite is a combination of Minecraft-like scavenging and resource mining along with tower defense-like battles against hordes of the undead. It’s currently available to purchase at $40 with the Deluxe Edition costing $60, Super Deluxe Edition at $80 and the Limited Edition priced at $150.

Players are currently facing issues with the game’s progression system which seems more pay to win than expected. Check out the official sub-Reddit just so you know what you’re getting into.
