Of the many first-party Xbox titles that have been officially announced and in development for years, none has sparked a mixture of both curiosity and skepticism the way Everwild has. Announced back in 2019, the game has reportedly been through a problematic development cycle, with even developer Rare having struggled for a long time with figuring out what the game was even going to be. Now, however, it seems like the project has finally turned a corner.

That’s as per journalist Jez Corden, who recently claimed on the Xbox Two podcast that development on Everwild is finally “going well”. As per Corden, Rare has now “nailed the gameplay loop” that the game will be built around, and as such, we should be hearing more details about it “in the future”.

Exactly what that means in terms of an upcoming announcement or showing remains to be seen, but the Xbox fanbase can at least take solace in the fact that the project is in much better shape than it has been for years, something that looked highly unlikely until not that long ago.

A report last year claimed that though Everwild had originally been envisioned as a survival-like game, the new direction it’s taking will see it play more like Viva Pinata. Read more on that through here.
