You’d think that the acquiring of the Fallout franchise by Bethesda from Interplay would have been smooth. And you’d be wrong. Due to legal issues arising between both companies, Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics would be removed from Steam and GOG temporarily. This happened as recently as 2013 which is the real kicker. Following the transfer of rights to Bethesda on January 1^st 2014, it set about removing information pertaining to Interplay and the games returned not long after.
