Fallout 4 Email Announcement for January 12th is a Hoax

As always, another disappointment.

Remember that e-mail from Bethesda Softworks that was doing the rounds proclaiming a “special announcement” for January 12? The email that we assumed was related to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and then when that proved not to be the case, then Fallout 4? The announcement that came and went yesterday?

It turns out it was just another hoax. The official Fallout Twitter revealed that, “This is another fan hoax. We are not announcing games from our merchandise store.” Considering the hoaxes that came about last year with Fallout – remember the countdown site? – it’s starting to get a little annoying now.

So regardless of whether your email had “store@bethsoft.com” in the sender line or not, Fallout 4 isn’t due to be announced any time soon. The game does exist thought, as leaked casting call documents reveal that it will be set in Boston (or at least feature the city as a location). What are your thoughts on all this? Let us know below.
