Fallout 4 Is Now Bethesda’s Most Successful Game Ever, Claims Bethesda’s Pete Hines

More successful than even Skyrim.

Common wisdom holds that the most successful Bethesda game of all time is Skyrim– Skyrim sold over 20 million copies, induced a paradigm shift within the industry, and remains one of the most played games on PC even to this day. Fallout 4, on the other hand, while successful, didn’t have the kind of long term legs that Skyrim had.

However, speaking on the Kinda Funny Gamecast, Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines said, “Fallout 4 has gotta be the most successful game we’ve ever launched in our company’s history. More than Skyrim, in terms of what we did.”

Hines did not clarify further on what he meant- just how is Fallout 4 more successful? In terms of units sold? Revenue generated? It is clear that the community is more active for Skyrim, that Skyrim had more mods, higher sales (the last we heard), higher review scores, more Game of the Year awards, and just in general more excitement surrounding it.

Fallout 4 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Skyrim can be bought on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version coming later this year.
