Fallout 4’s Vault Tec Number Actually Works

That's a nice touch.

Fallout 4

The 1-888-4-VAULT-TEC number from Fallout 4, which is advertised in game as the contact number for Vault-Tec, the company that makes the vaults in the series’ universe, actually seems to work in real life, Polygon has discovered. The number has been around since at least Fallout 3, and is visible pretty prominently at the beginning of your game, on a poster in your house.

You can call this number as long as you are within the US- and while, yes, the number is longer than most numbers in the United States are, it actually works. You can check out the video below for yourself to see what happens when the number is called.

It’s a pretty pointless thing in the larger scheme of things, but it’s a very cool ARG touch by Bethesda- it’s this kind of thing, I am sure, that leads to Bethesda’s games commanding the kind of rabid following that they ultimately do.
