Fallout 76: Wastelanders Bug Allows NPCs To Steal Player Weapons

It truly never ends with this game.

The saga of Fallout 76 is truly something. The game, on paper, seemed like a slam dunk idea, but the original launch of the game was plagued with issues. There were also controversies swirling around the title, from collector’s edition contents being misleading to microtransactions. Bethesda has done a lot to fix some of these issues, with their latest major update being Wastelanders, an expansion that creates an experience much closer to Fallout titles they developed in the past with quests and NPCs. While it’s a decent update for the game, it also seems to be following the tradition of having a big issue.

Multiple users reported a potentially game breaking bug that allows the newly installed NPCs to steal your weapons. As recounted in a heated Reddit thread (which you can read through here), players have reported dying and having NPC companions steal the weapon you had equipped as well as all your ammo. It’s unclear what, if anything, actually triggers this as others have reported not having this issue. In the same Reddit thread, Bethesda acknowledged they were aware of the problem and were working on a fix, though as of writing this there is none.

Fallout 76 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Wasterlanders update is live now across all versions.
