Fallout 76 Will Have Survival Elements and Crafting

"Softcore survival", indeed.

Fallout 76

Bethesda has revealed more details about its upcoming shared world co-op RPG Fallout 76. When Todd Howard revealed it on stage during E3, he noted, smirking as he did, that it would be “softcore survival”. As it turns out, that is right- the game will have survival elements (players will routinely have to eat meals, and drink water, but those elements are mostly de-emphasized).

What will be deeper than the game’s survival elements will be the crafting mechanics in the game- apparently, you can craft just about everything in Fallout 76, from ammunition, food, water, power armor, materials for building, mods for your weapons, and much, much more. It sounds like that is an area where Fallout 76 has taken a lot of cues from Fallout 4, which for all of its other failings, nailed its crafting and construction mechanics.

Fallout 76 is due to launch later this year. It will come out on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 14.
