Far Cry 4 Video Highlights PC-Exclusive Nvidia Features

TXAA, PCSS shadows and HBAO+ are just the tip of the iceberg.

In case you weren’t wowed enough by the beauty of Far Cry 4, Ubisoft’s upcoming open world shooter set in the fictional Himalayan region of Kyrat, then this new video should convince you otherwise. PC producer Semen Kovalev talks about the game’s PC exclusive features and how the development used the power of Nvidia Gameworks to achieve various high-end effects.

Some of the more obvious ones include Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion or HBAO+ and Hairworks for realistically modelling different kinds of hair. PCSS Shadows are one of the niftier features as it gradually softens the edging on shadows as they stretch farther away from the object casting the shadow. Temporal anti-aliasing is also in full effect helping to smooth out the edges inherent in structures. Overall, this should settle any debate as to which platform Far Cry 4 will look the best on (if there was any debate in the first place).

Far Cry 4 releases on November 18th for North America and November 20th for Europe.
