FIFA 18 Had 1.6 Million Peak Concurrent Players Over Weekend

Electronic Arts announces how many players it had over numerous platforms.

EA Sports’ FIFA 18 came out on September 29th for a variety of platforms, from current gen consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 to the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Of course, due to the nature of its license, it’s done very well. On Twitter, Electronic Arts noted that the peak number of concurrent players over this past weekend was 1.6 million.

Interestingly, EA has never announced a figure like this. It didn’t confirm how many units of the game were sold or which platform attracted the most number of sales. That being said, it’s still a pretty big milestone for the FIFA series.

FIFA 18 released with decent enough critical praise. Though the visuals and overall selection of modes was praised, much of the game didn’t really evolve from its predecessor FIFA 17. The Journey mode, for instance, has been criticized for its dialogue, lip-syncing and fairly typical story among other things. What are your thoughts on FIFA 18 though? Let us know in the comments.
