We already know the Xbox One X is an incredibly bit of hardware engineering- but what do Japanese developers, who have never actually gotten along well with Xbox, and especially the Xbox One X, think of it?
Speaking to MCVUK, Hajime Tabata, the director of last year’s Final Fantasy 15, praised the hardware, calling it a wonderful console (which, to be very fair, it is). “Personally, I don’t feel that we have reached the limit [on consoles]. The Xbox One X is a highly attractive console for developers. I feel like I have always been waiting for a powerful Xbox like this,” he said.
He also confirmed that Final Fantasy will run at over 60fps on the console, though he didn’t specify a number, and remained non committal on actually promising anything. “I expect that we will have a frame rate of over 30fps as well,” he said.
Final Fantasy 15 launched last year for the Xbox One and PS4; since its launch, it has constantly been updated with free content and updates, as well as paid expansions and DLC. The game has become a pioneer for supporting major new technologies, including the PS4 Pro, PlayStation VR, an upcoming PC version of the game, the Xbox One X, an edition of the game made for mobile platforms, and even a rumored Nintendo Switch version.
