Final Fantasy 15 Hits 7.7 Million Units Sold, Is The Fastest Selling Game in the Series Ever

Cue the Victory Fanfare then, Prompto!

Square Enix’s bid at a comeback for its flagship Final Fantasy franchise after years of the torpid reception that Final Fantasy 13 brought them seems to have gone down well. According to the official Japanese Final Fantasy 15 product info siteFinal Fantasy 15 is now at 7.7 million units sold worldwide- which still makes it the fastest selling game in the series launch aligned, as a user on ResetEra points out.

Equally important is that Final Fantasy 15 is already the fourth highest selling game in the storied series- Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 10 are the only ones that have sold more than it has, with 11 million, 8.8 million, and 8 million units sold respectively. Assuming 15 continues to sell (and with the PC release, as well as the great post launch support the game continues to get, there is no reason for it to not sell), it should easily cross at least Final Fantasy 10, and maybe even 8. A great comeback after the Final Fantasy 13 games, to be sure.

Final Fantasy 15 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
