Final Fantasy 16_04

There are four consumable upgrades to be acquired in Final Fantasy 16. Two enhance consumable potency, and the remaining two increase consumable inventory capacity. Potions and High Potions will restore more HP, Tonics will last longer, and a greater quantity of every type can be carried. This FF XVI guide will show you how each of the upgrades are unlocked and what they do.

Morganbeard Extract

Necessary for increasing consumable potency.

“Adding but a drop of this concentrated extract to any curative or performance-enhancing potion will increase its potency…or so insists Nigel of the backyard.”

  • Prerequisites: Unlocks during the course of main quest “After the Storm”.
  • Side Quest: “The Root of the Problem”
  • Begin at: The Hideaway in Central Storm Deadlands
  • Quest Granted By: Nigel, Head Botanist

Potion Potency: You have obtained a phial of morganbeard extract, hereby increasing the potency of most consumables. Both potions and high potions now restore more HP, while strength, stoneskin, and lionheart tonics last longer.

Invigorated Morganbeard Extract

Necessary for further increasing consumable potency.

“If adding the extract of morganbeard petals to curative or performance-enhancing potions increases their potency, then imagine what adding the extract of morganbeard petals fortified with the vigor of a morbol gripped with madness might do.”

  • Prerequisites: Unlocks after main quest “Like Father, Like Daughter”, and side quest “The Root of the Problem”.
  • Side Quest: “Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol”
  • Begin at: The Hideaway in Central Storm Deadlands
  • Quest Granted By: Nigel, Head Botanist

Potion Potency Plus: You have obtained a phial of invigorated morganbread extract, further increasing the potency of most consumables. Both potions and high potions now restore even more HP, while strength, stoneskin, and lionheart tonics last even longer.

Treated Potion Satchel

Necessary for increasing consumable inventory capacity.

“Were the same exotic compound that was applied to the leather of this satchel be kneaded into a pair of boots, they should surely become supple enough to accommodate a man with twenty toes.”

  • Prerequisites: Unlocks after main quest “Letting Off Steam III”.
  • Side Quest: “Weird Science”
  • Begin at: The Hideaway in Central Storm Deadlands
  • Quest Granted By: Owain, Engineer

Item Capacity: You have obtained a treated potion satchel, hereby increasing your capacity for carrying consumables. Item slot increases are as follows:

  • Potions: 4 -> 6
  • High Potions: 3 -> 4
  • Strength Tonic: 2 -> 3
  • Stoneskin Tonic: 2 -> 3

Expanded Potion Satchel

Necessary for further increasing consumable inventory capacity.

“Were the same exotic alloy from which the clasp of this satchel was fashioned be used to craft a suit of armor, it should surely be supple enough to accommodate even the greediest knight’s ever-expanding belly.”

  • Prerequisites: Unlocks during the course of main quest “Across the Narrow”.
  • Side Quest: “Even Weirder Science”
  • Begin at: The Hideaway in Central Storm Deadlands
  • Quest Granted By: Owain, Engineer

Item Capacity: You have obtained an expanded potion satchel, further increasing your capacity for carrying consumables. Item slot increases are as follows:

  • Potions: 6 -> 8
  • High Potions: 4 -> 5
  • Strength Tonic: 3 -> 4
  • Stoneskin Tonic: 3 -> 4

And that is all four Potion Potency and Item Capacity Upgrades in Final Fantasy XVI. Collecting them all will unlock the “With Two Ds” trophy.
