Final Fantasy 16_04

There are over two dozen weapons to be discovered, purchased, crafted, or upgraded in Final Fantasy 16 over the course of the story, through either the main questline or various side quests. While none of the weapons are missable, it should be noted that there is a point-of-no-return during the main quest “The Crystal’s Curse”. Even so these weapons can still be acquired post-completion of the campaign using Stage Replay or free roam. This FF XVI guide lists all known weapons and where they can be found.

Ancient Sword

  • Base Attack: 252
  • Base Stagger: 252

In a chest in the west of The Steps of the Forgotten in The Dhalmekian Republic.

Bastard Sword

The bastard sword is a popular choice amongst mercenary alliances because its size–not too long, yet not too short, not too light, yet not too heavy–accommodates a variety of fighting styles, both one- and two- handed.

  • Base Attack: 110
  • Base Stagger: 110

Buy from the vendor Charon at her shop Charon’s Toll in Cid’s Hideaway.

Blood Sword

Taking up this ancient hooked longsword in one’s hands invokes strange, yet familiar images of four nameless warriors who embark on a perilous journey to save the realm.

  • Base Attack: 130
  • Base Stagger: 130

“A Chance Encounter” main quest.

Broadsword Reforged

Even in the hands of an untrained soldier, the broadsword can prove a deadly weapon, which is why it remains a popular choice for armies across the Twins. It also doesn’t hurt that the pig iron blades are extremely simple and inexpensive to forge.

  • Base Stagger: 340

Coral Sword

Coral, while razor sharp, is also painfully brittle, which is why its use in all but the most primitive of weapons is almost unheard of. This sword of unknown provenance, however, is possessed of a remarkable rigidity.

  • Base Attack: 185
  • Base Stagger: 185

“The Crystals’ Curse” main quest.

In a chest after defeating the Akashic Champions.

Defender

Throughout history, many prominent battle strategists have declared that the best offense is a good defense. So with a name like “Defender”, one might assume this blade the best of both worlds.

Enhancer

Though a savvy merchant would have you believe that through arcane magicks imbued into the sword (at high cost to the supplier), its wielder will experience enhanced strength and dexterity, in truth, it is the reduced weight and increased hardness afforded by the weapon’s narrow blade of folded steel that ultimately provides the illusion of these enhancements.

Imperial Infantry Blade

When a Bearer dies in service of the Sanbrequois imperial army, it is more likely his sword—not his body—will be retrieved from the battlefield, that it might be provisioned to the next unwilling volunteer without additional cost to the crown.

  • Base Attack: 75
  • Base Stagger: 75

Default weapon for adult Clive.

Invictus

One of a set of seven swords said to have been forged in the flames of Mt. Drustanus, Invictus has been passed down through generations for use by the Archduke’s family and his closest Shields. Longsword

Longswords are some of the most common weapons in the realm, so it is no surprise the hot-tempered gate guard barking at you to begone also has one strapped to his back.

  • Base Attack: 95
  • Base Stagger: 95

Buy from the vendor Charon at her shop Charon’s Toll in Cid’s Hideaway.

Craft and reinforce with the blacksmith Blackthorne at his forge The Black Hammer in Cid’s Hideaway.

Masamune

The warriors of those islands situated off the far eastern coast of the southern continent are a curious lot, choosing a cloistered existence upon their lonely archipelago—seemingly content with the constant squabbling over lands within their own demesne—as opposed to setting out to claim territory anew. This is fortunate for the rest of the world, as the warriors are peerless when it comes to swordplay.

  • Base Attack: 310
  • Base Stagger: 310

In a chest near Notorious Mark, in the south of Skaithfarr in The Shadow Coast in Southwestern Ash Deadlands in The Kingdom of Waloed.

Platinum Sword

Platinum makes for a poor blade, being too soft to withstand rigorous use in battle and too expensive for the common soldier to afford. It does, however, allow for ornate designs on crossguard, hilt, and pommel, where the rare metal is most often employed.

  • Base Attack: 200
  • Base Stagger: 200

Buy from the vendor Charon at her shop Charon’s Toll in Cid’s Hideaway.

Craft and reinforce with the blacksmith Blackthorne at his forge The Black Hammer in Cid’s Hideaway.

  • Base Stagger: 325

“Blacksmith’s Blues IV” side quest

Can be upgraded to Gotterdammerung.

Craft with the blacksmith Blackthorne at his forge The Black Hammer in Cid’s Hideaway.

Rosarian Oath

Upon joining the ducal army, all future Shields receive a longsword that not only serves as their weapon, but represents the oath they take to defend Rosaria and her people. The blade of this particular weapon is approximately a hand shorter than those used by most, making it more suitable for a squire not yet fully grown.

  • Base Attack: 55
  • Base Stagger: 55

“Sunrise, Sunset” main quest

Default weapon for young Clive.

Rune Blade

  • Base Attack: 275
  • Base Stagger: 275

Buy from the vendor Charon at her shop Charon’s Toll in Cid’s Hideaway.

Craft and reinforce with the blacksmith Blackthorne at his forge The Black Hammer in Cid’s Hideaway.

Sparring Sword

Though nearly identical in weight, length, and balance to the weapons carried by ducal Shields into battle, the blade on this training sword is carved from a single length of hardwood to lessen the risk of injury—trading severed ears and split bellies for the slightly more manageable bruised wrists and injured pride.

  • Base Attack: 55
  • Base Stagger: 55

“Sunrise, Sunset” main quest

Stormcry

  • Base Attack: 135
  • Base Stagger: 135

“Awakening” main quest

And that is all known weapons in Final Fantasy XVI. Collecting them all yields no trophies or achievements, but there is a missable trophy to be gained from crafting Gotterdammerung–“Half Past Twilight”.
