Final Fantasy 7 Remake Has Its Battle System Base Solidified

"Still some way to go from here."

Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development at Square Enix, and the team is hard at work solidifying what will serve as the base for the game’s battle system.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, the game’s producer Yoshinori Kitase talked about how the game’s development is progressing. “We’ve solidified the base [of the battle system],” he continued. “Tetsuya Nomura, of course, and Mitsunori Takahashi, who took part in Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy, are putting all of their effort into it.”

When asked about Materia and other important systems and mechanics that comprised of the bulk of the original’s gameplay, Kitase said “we’re not going to remove the things that were popular in Final Fantasy VII.”

There is no concrete release date for Final Fantasy VII Remake yet, but we hope to have more information later this year. Stay tuned for more updates.

Thanks, Gematsu.
