With Kingdom Hearts 3 having wrapped up development and finally coming out in a little over a month from now, all eyes are soon going to turn to Square Enix’s next big project- Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Announced back in 2015, there’s been little information on the game since then, but apparently, there’s going to be plenty of new information on the upcoming remake throughout 2019.

As Hokanko reports (via Gear Nuke), speaking about what to expect from Square Enix in 2019, game director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase, who was the producer of the original Final Fantasy 7, dropped hints that various announcements will be made regarding the upcoming remake in the coming year. Nomura hinted at “7” being a keyword, following that up by saying that “various presentations” will be released, while Kitase said, “Development on Final Fantasy 7 Remake is progressing smoothly! I would like to try hard to meet the expectations of fans.”

Recently, Nomura also said that with work on Kingdom Hearts 3 wrapping up, all his attention will be focused on Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Not too long before that, he also suggested that Square Enix is also “considering various developments in regards to what accompanies the remake”, such as a compilation of all games in the Final Fantasy 7 continuity. The announcements being hinted at here could be about those- or hopefully about a possible release date for the remake itself.
