Final Fantasy 7 Remake: The Much Anticipated RPG Is Now Japan’s Most Wanted Game

That is according to the popular Famitsu magazine.

With Final Fantasy 15 now finally having released, another Final Fantasy game has stepped in to take its place at the top of the Famitsu Most Wanted weekly list of the most anticipated games due for release in Japan. Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the first part of the multi part remake of the seminal PlayStation RPG, is now Japan’s most anticipated upcoming game, according to Famitsu.

It is followed by the PS4 and 3DS versions of Dragon Quest 11 respectively, and then by Monster Hunter XX at the fifth position. Resident Evil 7, Kingdom Hearts 3, NieR Automata, Nioh, Super Robot Wars V, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (the Wii U version) round out the Top 10.

While Final Fantasy 7 Remake topping the charts isn’t much of a surprise, allow me to take this chance to remind readers that it is not indicative or a guarantee of sales success either- Final Fantasy 15 has been topping the Famitsu Most Wanted chart for as long as I have followed it, and it still launched to series worst numbers in JapanFinal Fantasy 7 Remake will undoubtedly do well- but it’s unlikely to do as well as you’d think in Japan.
