The NPD Group revealed its latest data for video game hardware and software spending for April 2020. Total spending hit $1.5 billion, as per GamesIndustry.biz, which was 73 percent higher compared to the same period last year and a new record high for the month in history. Total dollar sales for tracked software came to $662 million.

Leading the charts was Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which also became the third best selling game year-to-date and is now the best-selling game of the year for PS4.
