Arguably the most anticipated upcoming game over from Square Enix at the moment seems to be Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the modernization of the beloved PlayStation classic. The game was originally announced all the way back in 2015, although it has hit some rocky development since, with the developer drafted to work on it being let go, and Square Enix taking over to finish it internally.
Since then, at least, it seems as though development on the game is largely coming along smoothly. Thanks to reports coming out of the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition being held in Japan, which is, predictably enough, being held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the long running RPG series, development on the game now seems to be coming along well; that said, it seems that the visuals and aesthetics of the game have been redesigned, including Cloud and everything that we have seen so far.
All of which indicates that we may be a ways off from seeing the completed game come out. Maybe this one will be launched on the eventual PS5 and Xbox One successor…
