Final Fantasy VII Remake? – Mysterious Square Enix Countdown

Posted By | On 18th, Sep. 2009

Late last night, Square Enix’s website was updated with a mysterious countdown timer. These countdowns seem to be all the rage lately, but fans of Square’s Final Fantasy VII might just be intrigued by this countdown. The countdown shows the phrase “VII Days” with a countdown timer below it. Final Fantasy VII fans have been begging for a remake of the classic RPG ever since they were teased with the infamous PS3 tech demo showing the game’s first CGI scene with a PS3 graphical makeover, so a cryptic countdown with a prominent “VII” in it will certainly get fans’ blood rising.

The countdown expires in just under 2 hours, upon which the “VII Days” will almost certainly change to “VI Days”. Rumors on the web suggest that this countdown is for an announcement for SE’s Lord of Vermillion, but anyone hoping for a Final Fantasy VII remake should stay tuned, just in case.

**Update** – As predicted, when the timer hit 00:00:00 the “VII Days” switched to “VI Days”, and a new 24 hour timer began.  It looks like we’ll have to wait till next Friday at noon (CST) to see what this countdown will yield.
