No, it’s not the multi-million numbers that Tomb Raider or Dead Space 3 or even friggin’ Aliens: Colonial Marines has been doing. But the Nintendo 3DS title Fire Emblem: Awakening has managed to more than 180,000 units in February, which was also its first month on store shelves according to a statement from Nintendo of America to Siliconera.

The sales were broken up like this: 117,000 retail copies sold with +63,000 digital copies sold. Interestingly, Nintendo provided a comparison as to how well the game did against another Fire Emblem game, namely the DS’s Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. That sold roughly 250,000 units in the US till date. Fire Emblem: Awakening has managed roughly 70 percent of that amount in less than a month.

Whether it’s a cause for celebration over at Intelligent Systems and Red Entertainment remains to be seen, but at least this means (hopefully) more Fire Emblem games in the coming years.
