Ever since Firewatch, one of this generation’s many indie darlings, was announced for the Nintendo Switch by developers Campo Santo back in April of this year, we have heard practically nothing about it. However, Jake Rodkin, writer and designer of the game, recently took to Twitter to fix that.
Rodkin first shared four new screenshots from the upcoming Switch version of the game. It looks about as beautiful as you’d imagine, capturing the distinct visual style of the game back from when it launched two years ago. That doesn’t seem to have changed much for the Switch release.
More notably, in response to a tweet enquiring further about the Switch version of Firewatch, Rodkin said that it’s “very close”. How close? Well, that’s about as much as he said. That’s not exactly a release date, but it’s better than nothing- who knows, maybe we should be getting ready for a shadow drop.
Sometimes I look at Firewatch screenshots again (in this case, from the Switch branch of the game) and am reminded that Jane, Olly, Paolo, Will, Ben and our contract prop modelers made the game look ridiculously nice. pic.twitter.com/YYU9XGQW2h
