Fortnite Alpha Begins Today, New Trailer Released

Begins on December 2nd and ends on December 19th.

Epic Games’ Fortnite has had a long and – some could say – extensive development history with the studio announcing it 3 years ago only to have it re-emerge earlier this year when the Gears of War IP acquisition came up.

Regardless, it seems that we’re inching closer to a release date as Epic Games announced an alpha for Fortnite to begin on December 2nd till December 19th. A new trailer has also been released which you can see above.

Of course many of the mechanics are still “rough around the edges” according to Epic which includes the crafting and combat. But this is an alpha and it’s meant to test the overall launch of the game across a variety of systems so that the dev team can address issues. If you haven’t received an invite for the alpha, don’t worry – there will be more invites next week.

Fortnite is currently slated to release in 2015 for PC. Stay tuned for more details.
