Fortnite Battle Royale Map Getting Strange Rifts Following Rocket Launch on Saturday

Fortnite's map continues to react to the aftermath of the rocket launch on Saturday.

Fortnite Battle Royale (2)

Epic continues to innovate in the space of making a game an ongoing, living experience. Fortnite already had those meteor crashes a few weeks ago, and this Saturday, we saw a rocket launch, taking off into the sky where it… hit something? And then weird cracks started to appear in the sky. Almost as though the sky is like a glass dome enclosing the map.

Well, whatever it is seems to be spreading. Players who play Fortnite are finding that strange rifts have begun to show up all across the map, all looking like cracks in a sheet of glass, all across the map. What in the world could this be? Is this a worm hole? Could we see the map transposed to some other place in space or time?

One thing is for sure- Epic’s ongoing storytelling in Fortnite by leveraging games as a service is truly breathtaking, and I can’t wait to see how they further iterate on it going forward.
