Epic Games recently outlined map changes that would be coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale, it’s free to play take on Last Man Standing. A new city, junkyard and more defined biomes are part of the update coming this week but before that, the developer patched an exploit that’s been affecting Fatal Fields.
The exploit basically allowed players to enter beneath the map and kill others without any consequence. Following this patch, Epic Games noted that it will be taking a closer look at players reported for using the exploit and take “appropriate action.” Which is a fancier term for “ban”.
As for the upcoming map update, a fixed release date hasn’t been provided. Look for the next maintenance window for more information since that will likely be it. The idea behind the map update is to fill the west side of the map with more locations to ensure more balance overall. We’ll see how that pans out when the update is live.
Success! The underground map exploit has been fixed and all wormholes leading to the underworld have been removed. For players who were reported, we are looking at each case and our own analytics and we’ll take appropriate action. Get out there and have some fun in the sun!
