FromSoftware’s Rumoured PS5 Exclusive Will Allegedly be More Similar to Dark Souls Than Sekiro or Elden Ring

New alleged details claim that the brand new IP is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, with XDev supposedly providing development support.

A new rumour last week claimed that FromSoftware was once again partnering with Sony for the development of a new PlayStation exclusive. Now, new details on that rumoured project may have come to light, thanks to information shared on a recent podcast by XboxEra’s Nick Baker.

Baker reiterates some previously known information, such as the game being a completely new IP and having no connections with Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne. According to Baker, like those two games, this IP will be owned by Sony, while development support will be provided by XDev (previously, SIE Japan Studio, which has now been shuttered, provided support for FromSoftware titles).

Baker continues that FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki is directing the game, as he has done for most major games from the studio in the past. Allegedly, the new title is going to be more similar to the Souls titles than Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was, or the upcoming Elden Ring will be.

Interestingly, Baker also mentions that a new Armored Core game’s development has run into some issues, and may have been put on hold so that FromSoftware can instead focus on Elden Ring and the new PS5 exclusive title.

As always, do keep in mind that this is unverified information, so take it with a grain of salt and all that. We’ll keep an eye out for new details, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.
