11 bit Studios’ city building strategy survival title (yes, that’s a thing) Frostpunk has been the recipient of some great support from its developer ever since its launch, who clearly haven’t run out of ideas for great things to do with an already great game. They’ve now also announced that Frostpunk will be expanding its horizons as it looks to bring more people in, with a release confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One later this year- more specifically, this Summer (can’t get more specific than that right now, since an exact date hasn’t been provided). Check out the announcement trailer below.

11 bit Studios are also making adjustments and balancing changes to the game as they bring it to consoles, which, as per their Karol Zajączkowski, might make a game easier- but not more casual. “If you compare apples to apples is might be easier, but it’s not like it’s casual,” Zajączkowski told VG247. “The game pauses automatically on certain screens so you don’t have to worry about time passing by. It’s not like we’ve cut health or we changed it that much, it more general balancing and adjustments.”

As per Zajączkowski, Frostpunk on consoles is being tweaked to bring in audiences who haven’t played strategy titles on consoles before, with 11 bit Studios hoping that the challenge will come from things such as custom scenarios. “We’re delivering this game for people who haven’t played strategy games on consoles,” said Zajączkowski. “We don’t want them to be frustrated with this game. If you’re looking for a greater challenge you can always run custom scenarios to make it harder.”

Zajączkowski also clarified that there are currently no plans to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch- which is a real shame. But hey, at least we get it on the PS4 and the Xbox One. When? As mentioned, an exact release date wasn’t provided, so stay tuned, and we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.
