Now this is an awesome intiative. UK retailer GAME will be doing lock-ins for its stores, which are to be after-hours community events where gamers can play titles prior to their release. The first deal has been done with EA, and will run throughout January during which gamers get to experience Dead Space 3 a good few weeks before the initial release.

Did we mention snacks and drinks? Because there will be snacks and drinks.

Of course, the lock-in is on a first come, first serve basis, and you’ll need to write your name down in the store or tweet the relevant shop. And sorry kids but you have to be over 18 to take part.

The trial includes 18 shops across the UK with dates and locations listed below.

6th January 2013: Westfield Stratford
6th January 2013: Birmingham Bullring
6th January 2013: Glasgow
8th January 2013: Newcastle
9th January 2013: White Rose, Leeds
