Prey is not your conventional first person action game, and that is a fact it revels in. It’s a spooky, intense experience that takes mechanics from several other popular games, puts its own unique spin on them, and brings them all together for an unforgettable journey. Talos I is the kind of place that will keep you on your toes for the entirety of your playthrough, and Prey’s blend of exploration, stealth, and combat ensures that it’s a playthrough you won’t soon forget. Prey isn’t without its faults, and many of those faults are not easy to ignore, but taken as a whole, it’s a stunning re-invention of the franchise, and a game that stands out as one of the best of 2017.
