It’s amazing how a revered developer like Gearbox Software can be celebrated for selling 6 million copies of Borderlands 2 one week, and then be completely eviscerated by complaints against a less anticipated, more troubled game like Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Ever since videos have been circulating showing the difference between gameplay showcased a year ago versus the final product, the criticism has become even more vitriolic. In response to a recent tweet implying he was lying about presentations for Colonial Marines, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford replied with the following:

Head here to find out what actually happened with the development of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

The whole story is fairly complex but the basic gist is that due to being in active development in the past, but relegated to the side for other projects, Aliens: Colonial Marines would be overhauled significantly each time development was resumed.

This time around, Gearbox couldn’t get an extension from Sega without getting sued which resulted in a shabby product.
