Gearbox CEO Showcases Rendering Tech at GDC, Looks Like Borderlands 3

I mean, maybe, right?

Posted By | On 02nd, Mar. 2017

Gearbox Software president and CEO Randy Pitchford had a presence at Epic’s Unreal presentation at GDC 2017. He took the chance to show off rendering tech that the developer “may use in a future Gearbox game”. If you see the video below, then it sure looks like the next Borderlands to us.

Pitchford noted that the character in the video is a “production model” and may or may not be in a future Gearbox title.

Pitchford said the focus of the demo is on the shadows presented. “It allows the scene to simulate in real-time. As time of day changes, or maybe conceivably we have different physics if we for example, were to explore different planets. There might be different physics and the sun and the moons might be in different positions than what we’re used to on Pandora.”

Of course, he noted by the end that the next Borderlands is indeed in development and would be coming to fans soon. How soon remains to be seen so stay tuned.
