Studio’s first expansion outside of Texas is currently hiring.
Borderlands and Battleborn developer Gearbox Software has announced the opening of a new studio in Quebec, Canada. The studio is hiring for more employees and has already started working on its first game with “full triple-A production capability through 2016.” The studio will have Pierre-Andre Dery as its creative director with Sebastien Caisse as co-head.
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford stated that, “We have already successfully built an expanded all-new headquarters in Frisco, Texas. We now look ahead to another key and exciting step which is our commitment towards our all-new Gearbox Studio Quebec.
“Here, we will we strive to team up with some incredible talent in the world of video game development outside of Texas to help us build fun and exciting video games within our tent-pole brands.”
Given the fair amount of experience that Dery and Caisse have, it should be interesting to see how Gearbox Quebec feels. What are your thoughts on the studio’s first major studio outside of Texas? Let us know in the comments.
