The Gears of War franchise is definitely an interesting one. While the game’s overall core mechanics have changed little since the first title, the overall narrative and story has moved on to new protagonists and a new story of humanity’s struggles against a seemingly unstoppable enemy. Part of the latest updates to Gears 5 have been about tapping into a bit of nostalgia, such as the return of fan-favorite Cole in the last Operation. And it seems that will continue- which mans the original crew will soon be back together.
A teaser recently dropped for next week’s Operation 4. As you can see below, it will feature the return of Dom, meaning that now the four members of Delta-One that defined the original trilogy will be playable in multiplayer. Nothing else is detailed here, but presumably this will mean a new map, as well as possibly a new game mode. It seems the Operation will be branded “Brothers in Arms”.
Gears 5 is available now for Xbox One and PC, with the game confirmed to support Smart Delivery for Xbox Series X as well. Operation 4: Brothers in Arms will release July 14th.
