A free-for-all multiplayer mode as the centerpiece for a Gears game, reknowned for it’s Horde mode? We didn’t think so either, but that’s exactly what Microsoft and Epic Games have in mind.
They’ve recently announced that Gears of War: Judgment’s Free-For-All multiplayer mode will be playable this weekend at booth #412 at PAX Prime in Seattle. Two news maps in questions will be featured: “Gondola” and “Library”.
Now how exactly do they play out? “Gondola” has been described as “part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony”. It’s described as being a short gondola ride from the shops of the community in question.
“Library” on the other hand, refers to the Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library, which “is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honor, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility”.
Truly fascinating stuff, we know. Hopefully the multiplayer mode itself will be more fun.
