It was the end of 2020 when the surprise announcement came that a very old school Capcom franchise would be making a return with Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection. For those familiar with the storied franchise, the announcement trailer probably bought back lots of memories of some of the hardest games that’s graced the industry. Well, it seems that was part of the intent as Capcom is promising lots of homage and pain to come.

In the first dev video, Producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Peter Fabiano talk about what to expect for the revival. They mention they are working with the original Director of the series to get a strong feeling of nostalgia. They also talk about the many homages, such as the forest seen in the original reveal trailer and lots of other elements to celebrate the franchise’s 35th anniversary that harken to both the first game and its sequels under various names, such as Ghosts ‘n Ghouls. They also reference the game’s notorious difficulty and say they plan to retain that for Resurrection.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch February 25th.
