God of War PS4 Development Is “Going Well But Incredibly Hectic,” Game May Have Alternate Paths

Alternate paths to provide the player with more agency? Yes please!

God of War, the fourth entry in the long running PlayStation exclusive action adventure game series, looks to be a rather dramatic departure from the kind of experience that one usually associates with the franchise. How dramatic? Well, where previous God of War games had an almost arcade game mentality, funnelling you down linear paths to the next arena to clear waves of enemies out, it looks like the new God of War game may possibly have alternate paths, to give more agency to the player.

Speaking on Twitter, and responding to a fan, director Cory Barlog confirmed that the demo had alternate paths so this possibly means that the final game may have many such alternate paths to reach to your destination. Barlog also took the time to respond to fans who are worried about the game’s development (such as yours truly- I’ve been freaked out ever since the game decided to sit out on a PSX showing), saying that development was coming along well, and that game development is ‘hectic,’ since games are ‘big and complicated.’

Barlog can take his time here- as long as the final product he delivers turns out to be as great as it looks right now, I don’t think anyone will be complaining. God of War is slated to launch exclusively on the PS4 in 2017.
